GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS (GDM)

When a pregnant woman is found to have impaired glucose tolerance.
The pregnant woman will have diabetes while pregnant and it will usually resolve after the baby is born.
If you are pregnant you should be tested for GDM. Risk factors include age 35+, being Indigenous, obesity, parent or sibling with Type 2 diabetes, having a previous baby over 4kg or polycystic ovarian syndrome.
If you have a positive diagnosis, continue to work with your health care provider to keep you and your baby healthy.
