How can diabetes affect your eyes?

Diabetes can cause diabetic retinopaty (DR).
Sugar in the blood damages blood vessels in the lining at the back of the eye (retina), causing vision loss.
What can you do?
Keep blood sugar under control (< 10mmol/L 2 hrs after meals, or A1c <7.0 for those with type 2.
Keep you blood pressure under 130/80.
How can you do this?
Go for walks. Exercise regularly. Eat a healthy diet. Reduce salt and sugar intake.
