Sage AKA Artemisia ludoviciana, western mugwort, prairie sagebrush, native wormwood and white sage. Not to be confused with the herb called sage (salvia officinalis) which is used in cooking and native to Southern Europe. In many First Nations, sage is used to release negative energies and troubles from our minds. It is mostly used in smudging – believed to be a strong cleanser for homes and sacred artifacts.
It is thought that sage sits in the western door (however this differs between Nations)
