SweetgrasS Also called Hierochle odorata, sweetgrass has a sweet aroma and grows in marshy areas. It’s often cultivated and woven into braids for ceremonial uses. Sweetgrass is seen as Mother Earth’s sacred hair. Its sweet scent reminds us of Mother Earth’s gentle love for us. In healing circles, sweetgrass is calming. It’s used also for smudging and represents kindness. It is thought that sweetgrass sits in the southern door
(however this differs between Nations).
