Quick Pasta Sauce
This recipe uses tomatoes, which have lycopene, an antioxidant that prevents cardiovascular disease and helps us to have healthy hearts.

  • Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (or 2 teaspoons crushed)
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil* (or fresh, chopped)
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes


In a large skillet, add olive oil, garlic, sauté until tender (2 minutes). Stir in basil and tomatoes. Cook 15 – 20 minutes until slightly thickened. Serve over cooked whole wheat pasta.
*You can use Italian spice mix in place of dried basil, or use both. Flavor to your liking.
