The Indigenous Diabetes health Circle (IDHC) seeking two youth adults to advise the IDHC Board of Directors and attend Board meetings. This is a volunteer position.
The seven-member IDHC Board is an oversight body working on behalf of this non-profit organization responsible for organizational governance. The Board has a leadership role to ensure Indigenous clients and communities receive high quality services from the organization. To achieve its objectives, the IDHC works closely with clients, frontline health workers, community organizations and many partners. Seats on the Board are elected for a three (3) year term by a majority of the votes cast at an Annual Meeting of the Members.

Meeting Schedule
The Board meets four times a year via Teams or a Zoom conference call—or in-person—as needed. The in-person location is determined by the Board and locations may change at the request of the Board. Meeting expenses are paid (in Ontario).

About the IDHC
The IDHC has over 25 years of experience in Indigenous diabetes health promotion, including training and program development. The IDHC delivers programs focusing on diabetes education, prevention and management in Indigenous communities in Ontario, both on and off reserve — serving First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities. Facilitating community capacity, building upon traditional strengths and supporting community-driven programming remain IDHC’s core focus. The IDHC is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term. The IDHC head office is located in Thorold, Ontario.
