About the Keynote Speaker

Darrel Manitowabi (PhD) is an associate professor in Human Sciences at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University and is the inaugural Jason A. Hannah Chair in Indigenous Health and Indigenous Traditional Medicine. He is Three Fires Anishinaabe from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island and currently resides in the Whitefish River First Nation. His interest in Indigenous health is the intersection of Indigenous Knowledge in healing and self-determination. He is currently collaborating in traditional healing capacity building with healers, Indigenous physicians and Elders.
